Budapest Lights Up Crypto: One Week of Blockchain Buzz Takes Over Hungary’s Capital

Between September 15 and 21, Budapest will become the capital of the crypto world and blockchains. This is when the Budapest Blockchain Week series of events will take place, with events organized around specific topics throughout the week for members of the blockchain community, interested parties, and experts. All events are free to attend and will reflect the diversity of the blockchain world: from the technology focus of DeepTech Day on September 16, through Wednesday’s regulatory issues, to the culmination of Bitcoin Day 2025 on Saturday.
On Saturday, in addition to lectures and panel discussions, another chapter in the history of decentralization will come to a close with an informal after-event meetup. The main venue for the series of events is the Óbuda University Campus on Tavaszmező Street, and the exact details can be checked continuously at https://www.budblockweek.net/.
The program will be broken down into the following days:
September 16: DeepTech Day, focusing on technology and blockchain. Here, experts from the domestic crypto sector will share their knowledge on quantum-resistant zero-knowledge proofs and proof-of-reserve and proof-of-liability algorithms among many other topics. The event will take place from 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Óbuda University Campus on Tavaszmező Street. A must-attend event for anyone interested in technology and blockchains!
September 17: After the events of the past few months in Hungary, this promises to be a particularly interesting day. During the program organized by Kripteus, experts will discuss how domestic crypto regulations are changing, what the new expectations are, and what difficulties the domestic crypto community faces.
September 18: The Swarm Decentralized AI Day will focus on the intersection of artificial intelligence and blockchains. Topics will include the next generation of artificial intelligence agents, data sovereignty, and how decentralized infrastructure and AI are changing the way blockchains work.
September 19: Friday’s Polkadot Day is open to everyone, regardless of interest. From 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., all kinds of current topics will be discussed. There will be talks on financing opportunities for crypto startups, the future of democratic decision-making, Polkadot’s governance system, and the development of DeFi portfolios. On this day, you can meet prominent members of the Hungarian crypto community and, at the end of the day, network informally over food, drinks, and all kinds of crypto souvenirs.
September 20: This is the closing day of Blockchain Week, Bitcoin Day, organized jointly by various crypto communities and media outlets! The event is organized from the bottom up, on a completely non-profit basis, paying tribute to open source, cyberpunk, and crypto. After the opening ceremony at 4 p.m., there will be various presentations, for example by Imre Szilágyi, the main organizer of B-Day, and Barbi Lőrincz. Barbi, host of the BitcoinBázis podcast, will give a presentation at 5 p.m. on how to transfer the concept of Bitcoin to friends and family. The presentation will use personal stories and everyday tips to show how Bitcoin can be brought closer to everyday people. This will be followed by a panel discussion entitled „Bitcoin and Cryptocurrencies in Central and Eastern Europe: Opportunity or Threat?”, and Ethereum will also be discussed specifically. The evening will conclude with an informal after-event meetup at Grund, supported by BitcoinBázis.
This will be a week that focuses not only on insiders. Everyone can gain knowledge, build relationships, and enjoy a community experience. This week will be a real bridge between the profession and interested people. Anyone who is even slightly interested in the world of blockchains should not miss this week, when Budapest will become the capital of blockchains.
